Amrita's live performance

Meet Amrita Kaur, a girl endowed with enchanting vocal magic, her voice goes beyond music, offering a therapeutic journey with emotions from lullabies to anthems—a sonic landscape of healing and harmony.

Born in the UK, with childhood roots in Malaysia, Amrita's musical journey took a significant turn when her family migrated to New Zealand more than 20 years ago. From the tender age of 7, Amrita began accompanying her father, the renowned kirtaniya Bhai Yadvinder Singh, in Sikh kirtan programs at local Gurudwaras in Auckland. She is trained in the rich tradition of Indian classical music from the age of 11, under the guidance of Professor Shukdev Madhur in Auckland.

Despite pursuing a Master's degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Auckland, Amrita maintained a steadfast commitment to her musical pursuits. Her thesis, "Ragamala - a garland of architecture and music," seamlessly connected her two passions, exploring the visual translation of Indian classical music ragas into the architecture of a co-housing community.

Amrita's musical repertoire spans a wide spectrum, including devotional, ghazal, Sufi, Punjabi folk and pop, classical, semi-classical, and Hindi film music. Her renditions have touched millions through Youtube, Spotify, streaming services and social media. She has a strong online presence on social media platofrms - Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok.

In a groundbreaking moment, Amrita made history in January 2023 as the first Sikh to perform a solo concert in the "Virsa Heritage Revived" series at Haveli Baroodhana in Lahore, Pakistan. Co-produced by Mian Yousaf Salahuddin and Yadvinder Singh, the concert was later released on YouTube, amassing over nearly 1 million views to date. After the immense success of this concert, Amrita was invited to perform once again in January 2024.

Amrita's global reach extends beyond virtual platforms. She has embarked on tours to USA, Canada, India, Dubai, Pakistan, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia in 2024 doing both concerts (public and private) and devotional kirtan programs. Amrita has already been booked to tour the UK in April 2025, and India again later in the year. From devotional programs to concerts and mehfils worldwide, Amrita's healing voice resonates, creating a harmonious blend of cultures through the universal language of music.
